August Roundup

Thursday, 1 September 2011
1. Blog more - Yep.
2. No stash purchases - ah, yes well, erm, oops!  JCS Halloween Special, Just Nan limited editions, Lizzie Kate 6 Fat Men, a Jelly Roll and a Layer Cake.  I guess this one I failed on
3. Reduce my stitching WIP list - yes!  Four finishes (one that was a new start too)
4. No new stitching starts in the first half of the year - one new start that was finished - I think I'll change this to reflect we're in the second half of the year now.
5. Find the quilting bug again and reduce my quilting WIPs - not in August
6. Read at least 50 books - 4 read this month taking my total to 24 so far this year.
7. Reduce the clutter in the house - three bags to a charity shop and three to friends.
8. Lose weight - pass
9. Stick to the household budget and find ways to reduce expenditure - not even close
10. Work on the garden - nope but we did play in it a lot

June Roundup

Friday, 1 July 2011
1. Blog more - Another month with the equivalent of a post every other day
2. No stash purchases - Erm, well maybe just a couple.  In my defence it was the first time I've been in an LNS for two years so it was rude not to.
3. Reduce my stitching WIP list - I made good progress on 4 Wishes but no finishes in June
4. No new stitching starts in the first half of the year - absolutely.  I intend to try and keep this going for the rest of the year now.
5. Find the quilting bug again and reduce my quilting WIPs - yes the bug is back.  I need to focus on finishing up some quilts though
6. Read at least 50 books - 6 read this month taking my total to 24 so far this year.
7. Reduce the clutter in the house - some baby clothes headed out and I've done some stash tidying too
8. Lose weight - pass
9. Stick to the household budget and find ways to reduce expenditure - didn't do too well - I blame leaving DH alone with his parents and him feeling like he had to take them out.  And my mini stash purchase...
10. Work on the garden -seedlings all planted out.

May roundup

Thursday, 2 June 2011
A day late but with good reason...
1. Blog more - Another month with the equivalent of a post every other day
2. No stash purchases - Yep
3. Reduce my stitching WIP list - I made good progress on Cottage Garden 2 but no finishes in May
4. No new stitching starts in the first half of the year - check
5. Find the quilting bug again and reduce my quilting WIPs - not much sewing done in May unfortunately
6. Read at least 50 books - 4 read
7. Reduce the clutter in the house - again not much done this month
8. Lose weight - due to medication I am unable to lose weight fast but I have totally changed my eating habits, stopped snacking and given up fizzy drinks and have lost 2lb in the first 12 days of the new regime
9. Stick to the household budget and find ways to reduce expenditure - budget was blown in April so May had to be austere
10. Work on the garden - again not much

So not a bad month as goals were met but not much was actually achieved.  I think we basically spent May recovering from April LOL.

June should be more productive - next weekend is my annual weekend away with stitchy friends so that's two full days of uninterrupted stitchy time for a start. Well, when I say uninterrupted, I should perhaps point out that sometimes on these weekends (this is our 5th) I laugh so hard I can barely hold the needle let alone get it through the fabric...

February Roundup

Monday, 28 February 2011
So I managed another full month of posting daily!  I am pretty much out of WIPs to show though so I am going to have to get productive if I'm going to keep up the posting in March.

My goals are currently looking like this:

1. Blog more - Yep, a post a day
2. No stash purchases - nothing interesting came through the letterbox this month so that's a yes
3. Reduce my stitching WIP list - made great progress on Birds of a Feather - hoping for a HD soon
4. No new stitching starts in the first half of the year - check
5. Find the quilting bug again and reduce my quilting WIPs - Not really but I'm itching to get going and have 40 gift bags to make in March!
6. Read at least 50 books - 7 read in Feb
7. Reduce the clutter in the house - yep stuff has gone
8. Lose weight - ah, well this'll be a no but can I have some points for thinking about it?
9. Stick to the household budget and find ways to reduce expenditure - budget got a bit mashed at the end of the month but we didn't go over it so that's good
10. Work on the garden - nope

I also had the additional goal of selling stuff this month.  I didn't put that much effort into this (I was sick, Connor was sick) but I did get my finger out in the last week and sold enough stash to pay the second half of the money for my stitching weekend away in June so that is good

October Roundup

Saturday, 31 October 2009
I'm not sure it's even worth me posting this roundup because I failed miserably to reach any of my goals for October.

I mainly stitched on the Noah's Ark baby quilt (and made decent progress) but everything else was ignored and I didn't fire up the sewing machine once!

I did read a couple of books though:

The Waitress - Melissa N
athan
The Other Hand - Chris Cleave

Anyway, I have changed my goals for next month in line with my post of the 25th and hopefully I can achieve some of those in November.

April Roundup

Thursday, 30 April 2009
Due to me being laid low with a throat and ear infection for the last five days plus losing a lot of stitching time due to two long weekends away I've not done very well at all in my rotation this month. I failed to touch three of my pieces at all!

Stitching Goals

So lots and lots of stash arrivals but A Case for Colour was my Mother's Day gift and most of the rest were Autoship commitments (this is the most expensive month for those as Boo Club is now done). Rhapsody in Red, Spooky Spots and Quaker Virtues were birthday gifts so they don't count. Honest

WIPs Retired
Lost in a Blackwork Maze
Spring Lineup
Garden Party

Hmmmmmm, I fell behind a bit this month. I lost a bit of motivation on Couer and then hurting my finger and the great Maple Syrup hunt all took a bite out of my enthusiasm. However, all WIPs got some work and I had a couple of finishes so I'm not moaning, I'm sure most people would still see me as an over-achiever. Next month I'll be sewing and quilting a bit more than stitching I think but I'm hoping to get back on track, specifically getting Boo Club back up to date and chasing along with Snapperbets.

Oh and I'm sure my iPod Touch also had a lot to do with my lack of stitching progress (and it certainly ate into my reading time!) I even downloaded the next version of Virtual Villagers onto our PC (it's not available for the Touch) so I'm wasting time in the evenings playing that.

February Roundup

Saturday, 28 February 2009
Stitching Goals
1. Work on Sleigh Ride - yes a little
2. Work on Charlie is Born - yes and he's completed

Dead Lovely - Helen Fitzgerald

Quilting Goals
1. Start Lia's curtains - nope due to me being ill at the beginning of the month but they will be started tomorrow
2. Work on the Quilter's Friend Sewing Kit - yes, lots done so it should be finished in March

Other Quilting
Quilting class attended - 'Inspired by Rugs'

New Stash Arrivals
SamSarah - Alphabet Baubles D
Picture This Plus - FOTM (and a couple of other pieces to keep it company on the way over!)
Lizzie*Kate ABC Lessons
The Cat's Whiskers - Scissors by Any Other Name

So another successful month. My only regret is that Sleigh Ride didn't get as much attention as I'd have liked but given there was almost a week where I got no stitching done I shouldn't complain, at least I did a teeny bit on it.

I want to get a bit more quilting done in March so my stitching productivity may drop a little but given I'm steaming ahead on most projects I'm not too worried. I just want to get on with Lia's things for her room so the curtains will definitely be done (Mum is going to assist while she's staying this week as I've never made curtains before) and I want to get some cushion covers done too.

No WIP pics for a bit as DH is in Greece with the camera - I'll hopefully get them loaded next weekend.

Bent Creek - Frowzen Men
Bent Creek - Snapperbets 5
Bent Creek - The First Fall of Snow
Picture This Plus - FOTM
SamSarah - Shimmers and Sparkles, Trimming the Tree
Quite a large amount of fabric!

So not a bad month for stitching stash, the new arrivals were mainly my 2009 autoships (Lizzie*Kate Boo Club, PTP FOTM, SamSarah's Alphabet Baubles and the Just Nan Tin) plus the final part of the Snapperbet series. My only extra purchases were two new Bent Creeks but they were ordered in 2008 so they don't count as a Wagon slip (Honest Gov) and the two SamSarah's but they were on offer at the fabric sale I went to.

I'm actually enjoying the rotation more than I thought I would. There's enough new stuff in there to keep me enthusiastic and I'm enjoying the satisfaction of working on WIPs and seeing my progress - I was never that good at taking progress pictures before but it really does motivate me so I shall make a real effort to keep up the habit.

I know that come the summer months I'm unlikely to get as much done which is why I'm pushing so hard right now. I'm stunned that I got so much done on Scream House and Grandma's Thread Minder that I may well finish all the stitching for both of them in their next rotation slot!

Roll on month 2 as I'm already ahead of the game with Snapperbets and Lizzie*Kate and hoping for a second finish from the WIP pile...
